Great Egret w/Repost

Repost to bring up the whites:

Original:

Great Egret (Ardea alba), Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge, Ridgefield, Washington, USA

The Herons and Egrets have been sparse at the local wildlife refuge this winter (or they’re just in another section). This one popped up and I was able to track him for 40 or so yards. Got lots of shots while he hunted for breakfast.

Good look at this egret, David. Good sharpness and detail around the eye and head. The white may be a bit overexposed around the “hump” in his back? Good shot.

Very nice pose and excellent detail in the whites, David. It looks as if you controlled the exposure of the egret based on the hot spot on the back, leaving the rest of the bird a bit grayish looking. If you have luminosity masks, you might try playing with them to block out the highlight and bring the rest of the bird up just a bit.

Thanks @terryb and @Dennis_Plank for your comments. I worked on the whites and posted a new version up above. Egret whites are hard to get right without blowing them out…

Repost is much improved. I like the pose and the setting.
