Hi, @Ben_van_der_Sande You’ve got some lovely, well controlled light in this scene. I enjoy the luminosity of the backlit grasses on the right and central background. But, the tangle of limbs on the left and the OOF grasses at the very bottom don’t add anything to the composition. I wonder if focusing more on the grasses and simplifying the composition would have helped to create a more cohesive final image? Thank you for sharing your work.
Hi @Ben_van_der_Sande, I like the low slanting sunlight on the phragmites lining the banks of the brook. The tangle of branches on the left side don’t bother me because they lead nicely into the woods in the background. But it do find the out of focus phragmites stalks in the foreground quite distracting from the pleasant revelation of your secret brook.
Hi Ben,
No need for a lot of words when you have exquisite light like this! I love the glow on those sea oats as it gives them a life all their own. I do agree with @Bret_Edge and @guy about those OOF stalks in the FG. I hope you do not mind, but I did a quick rework to get rid of them and give you an idea of what I was thinking. This image is well worth taking a little time to get rid of them. This is another beautiful slice of the area you call home; nicely done!
Ben: The light on the sea oats and their clarity and detail make this for me. I very much like @Ed_Lowe 's tweak. I especially like the color palette and the tangle of twigs on the left side balance the color of the right nicely. Well seen and nicely presented. >=))>
