It's a Nuthatch thing....

But most captures are more like this…

Or this…

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I got lucky this morning with an upside-down Nuthatch. (Yes, the camera was right side up; you can see the “horizon” in the eye.) But most captures are more like the second one, that I had to throw in just for fun.

Same old stuff: minor tonal tweaks in LR, then into PS for NR and a crop. Some minor BG cleanup.

LOL! I have a whole file of butt shots! It actually was useful awhile ago, when there was an NPN WC on"missed shots."
Nice shot of this little cutie - sweet pose, tack-sharp detail, and very complimentary BG.

Been there, done that a thousand times Diane. I love it. In fact I have a folder named “you may know this, Butt . . .” All mirth aside, these are adorable images of this little character, and very well crafted. Nice work.

Thanks, @SandyR-B and @Ed_Williams! I just added another "…or this"above, as I slogged through the captures. I’m getting behind…

At least you caught the bird in the frame in the last one, Diane-usually I just get a partial tail. The first one is so typically nuthatch. I had a red-breasted come to one of my drips upside down like this. They’re so fun to watch and photograph.

Been there, done that. But that one shot sure makes up for the misses. Nice perch, background, pose, and detail.

Hi Diane
Looks like you have cornered the market on Nuthatch. nice work.
Peter

Thanks, @Dennis_Plank, @Allen_Brooks and @peter! Dennis, I’ve never seen a red-breasted one, but the range maps look like there should be some around here. I seem to be in an area favored by the more colorless birds.
