Lily Bomber

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I indulged myself with a trip to our local water garden. It’s a haven for water lilies and dragonflies. It’s early in the season but there was still a lot of activity. This water lily was one of the first things I shot and when I got home I discovered this strange looking critter resting on the lower petal. Any ID help appreciated. >=))>

Specific Feedback

Didn’t attempt a stack at this distance and there was a bit of a breeze stirring the flower. Wanted sharp focus on the center and was lucky that the photo bomber was in the same focal plane.

Oooh, I like this, Bill. I have no idea what the critter is that photo bombed you. The oof lily pads in the BG help support this beautiful bloom. F11 worked for the single shot. I need to get to our Botanical Gardens soon. Hopefully the lilies are out and we will soon have dragonflies.

Very cool, Bill. Personally, I could see losing a lot of the top of the image as my eye seems to want to linger there where there’s not much to look at. I did an image search on the bug and it looks like it might be this critter or something closely related.
