Eye catching and an interesting mix of very dark tones and lighter ones. Mostly this type of photo leans to the light, but this emphasizes the shadows. The rainstorm might not be over for these wee flowers. The hard edges of the bokeh balls are also a contrast that gives a lot of visual weight to the photo. One thing that is a bit jarring is the relatively hard edge on the out of focus flowers - you could go in with a brush to blur the edges of them a bit in Photoshop. I think that would add some more cohesion and harmony to this really thought provoking shot.
Ingrid: I like @Kris_Smith 's note that this is thought provoking. My eye does immediately go to the relatively bright center even though it’s pretty featureless. Once I get to the flowers and drops the interest increases considerably. At first I thought the dark purple bud(?) was too dark but I can see some tonal variation on further review and think it fits, especially with the dark OOF area in the URC. Nicely conceived and thought provoking indeed. >=))>
Thanks both for your appreciation. @Kris_Smith I see what you mean but I’m afraid I never alter photos to hide something that was there in reality. I’m just one of those annoying purists This is not a judgment about photographers who do post edit their photos to that extent or a lot more. I personally just get my joy of creating an image in the camera, even if it isn’t esthetically perfect. But it’s interesting to read, because it gives me an idea about what a viewer might find disturbing, so I can take that into account in further compositions. Thanks again!
