Description
Birds have been scarce lately --or I have been too lazy. I went out yesterday to see if I could conjure anything and this was about it – I managed to sneak up on this guy from the shaded side in late day sun with some clouds attenuating the light a little. Cropped to about 50%. The BG was completely boring across the frame and there was an unsightly mess of branches in the LR corner. Hand held.
LR for global adjustments. Used a linear profile to tame highlights. Into PS for a couple of masked curves adjustments and some branch cloning in the LR corner.

Diane: I think most of us think robins are pretty common but you have made this one exceptional with the light and feather detail. Beautiful creature superbly captured and presented.>=))>
I like how you caught the light on the Robin, Diane. Fine detail and the Robin stands out well from the background. A common bird, but attractive and the do make for a good subject.
Hi Diane, I love your use of the side light as well providing fine illumination and texture. Background looks good to me and I like the small perch also. Details are spot on. Well done.
Winter plumage robins have that gray edging on the breast feathers which you captured very well. I think that you handled the lighting very well and you managed to get a pretty nice comp. Well done…Jim
