Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

This is an image from a visit to Rome in the first week of January this year. It was late afternoon, and the sun was just going down behind the top of the ancient buildings. The juxtapposition of buildings from diverse millenia, dating back to the 6th century B.C., was intrigiung for me. Color palette was almost monochromatic, yet with a comforting warming shade on a cold wintry day.

Any comments and critique are welcome.

An interesting angle on this scene, Peter. It comes across as very desolate to me. I can tell from the condition of the windows that the building in the background is still in use, but even it looks like part of the ruins. Not knowing exactly what feel you’re trying to evoke with this image, it’s hard to suggest an changes, though I have a feeling that I’d like to have the deepest shadows lifted enough to see some detail in those areas.

Peter: Like @Dennis_Plank mentioned I would like to see the shadows lifted just a bit but otherwise I like the comp and subject. >=))>
