Rough Landing

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

In contrast to the aged maple leaf fallen on a fresh leaf I’m offering a fairly fresh bougainvillea flower on fading cactus. I liked the multiple contrasts in this little scene. >=))>

Specific Feedback

Stuck to my single capture roots on this one mostly because I think it works and also because I had to get down on my knees on a rough hard surface. Even with knee pads on (one of my essential accessories) this was a little uncomfortable and hard to get behind the viewfinder. That’s one of my old habits as well. I much prefer to look through the viewfinder than look at the screen. What’s your preferred method?

Bill, wonderful stuff here. These backyard nature galleries some of the folks on NPN have provide amazing image opportunities. The contrasts in color is a BIG draw for me here on this one… :+1:
I can’t do the kneeling thing any longer… :face_with_spiral_eyes:
As far as “view” finding usage I only have a choice of MF finder or LF groundglass… :star_struck:

This is a fine composition, Bill, and the single shot worked well. And I’m still a viewfinder guy as well. The back screen is way too variable depending on the ambient light. I have used it on rare occasion when I had the camera flat on the ground and couldn’t get my eye behind the viewfinder.
