Runoff, rays and reflections

A view of the runoff from Grand Prismatic Spring as the micro terraces caught some late afternoon sun when the clouds finally started to clear towards the end of the YNP gathering with Bill Fach and Phil Hodgkins.

Wow Mark, this is a very impressive image, it is one of the best intimate abstracts that I have seen at NPN in a while. I love the colors and light here, especially how the sky and clouds are reflecting in the top half of the image. Your processing of the colors is just so rich and vibrant, your restrained saturation is allowing a lot of subtle colors to come forward. This has the look of an aerial/drone image (but that would be illegal in a national park :grinning:), then I saw your reference to shooting from a tripod. While I love this as presented, I could also see a crop away from the bottom, taking this to a 16:9 aspect ratio. Great seeing on this one Mark !!!

Lovely light. The colors are spectacular.

Fantastic image. It drew me in from first glance. Very enjoyable no nits from me

Really nice abstract, Mark. The upper half looks like a stange icy landscape.

Mark, this is one super nice abstract. For sure one of your best if not best abstracts posted that I ever recall. No doubt the light and setting sun is the key influence on this wonderful scene. Excellent eye as well as your photographing technique in taking full advantage of what was natures closing time on this particular day…:+1:

This is a really fine abstract, Mark. The interesting patterns and mix of cool/warm tones are ascetically very pleasing. Processing looks good. Only thought would be to slightly burn down the top corner brightness to keep the eyes in the central portion of the frame.

Mark,
Very cool looking abstract and the color palette with the blues, golds and earth tones works beautifully together. The light in the scene does a wonderful job of showcasing everything. I am really enjoying this one.

Mark: You beat me to this one! I loved how the light struck the edges of the terraces. Well seen and superbly captured.>=))>

Well done, Mark. Great abstract.
