Description
Ed and I try to time our trips to Blackwater Falls State Park, WV, when the forecast is for rainy conditions around 40% all day and possible thunderstorms. Beside saturating the colors the rain will often lead to rising mists from the canyon walls. The below 50% rain forecast will usually give us off and on periods of rain so we don’t have to get too wet and the thunderstorms will give us some good water flow.
Specific Feedback
Any and all suggestions and critiques welcome. Colors, processing etc. Although I don’t remember doing any processing other than maybe a little dehaze and web sharpening.

Gorgeous!! I love the mist and it is in the right spots to contribute dimensionality. The diagonal from the LL to the UR is a strong element and the subtle detail in the UL feels just right. I wonder about even a touch more saturation, or maybe warmth, but maybe that would spoil the quiet mood.
Hi Mike,
Sweet looking autumn scene featuring some gorgeous color as well as some lovely mood with the swirling fog. This is making me yearn for the fall season already; I am tired of the heat this summer! Was this Pendelton Point? I find that the diagonals also work quite well in this image and add a little visual tension. My only suggestion would be to get rid of that bit of orange color in the LRC as it does catch my eye a little.
Wonderful scene here, Michael. I’d say yours and Ed’s planning / timing was perfect. I have found it’s a waste of my time without a solid plan. My days, many years ago now, of by chance encounters became almost impossible.
I’m not sure about any up tick or boost but might review a very slight magenta cast. It’s probably just my old age eyes not adjusting to the really nice and very strong reds in those trees. Regardless, the scene is outstanding…
Gotta love the uphill angle here and corner to corner flow…
I did drop the cast 50% and added +10 on overall saturation. Not sure, just a thought.
Michael: I knew this was yours from the thumbnail. You have a real talent for rendering these scenes and your planning certainly paid off. Wonderful color palette and conditions. Most excellent. >=))>
