Summer on the Pond

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Here’s a change-of-pace… I went to visit my pond and saw this small (about 2 inches long) Green Frog sitting under a lily bloom. I finally decided that a larger view, including the some of the lily bloom with its reflection as well as the frog and it’s perch told a good story. The “rain” is from my anti-deer sprinkler that also gets triggered by gray squirrels…

Specific Feedback

Definitely not your “standard” macro portrait of a small creature, but with the full width less than a foot, it is close-up

Technical Details

R5, 180mm macro, 1/25 s, f/9, iso 800, tripod. A 30 shot stack for dof.

Very nice, Mark. I really like the composition in this one and the frog is just the right size in the frame.

Mark: Terrific find and a superb capture. The lily reflection puts this over the top for me. You must have been seriously non-threatening to get off 30 shots without the frog moving. Superbly crafted image. >=))>

Mark, this needs some wall space. I love the colors, composition, the reflection, water drops, everything about this.

The colors, lighting, reflection and the focus on the frog are awesome Mark. I would really like to see that entire flower and reflections with the frog, but I understand that would detract from the main subject here. Beautiful.
