The Alpe Di Siusi lies close to the Swiss border in the northern Dolomites of Italy. This pasture land surrounded by jagged mountain peaks offers luscious green grass for cattle and the area is criss-crossed by dozens of ski lifts for winter sports. at sunrise the grass is covered by dew and frost.

Wiebe: Welcome to NPN and thanks for a fine first post. I love the play of light an shadow here and wonder how it would be to spend a summer in one of those cabins. Nicely seen and superbly captured. Looking forward to more of your work.>=))>
Wiebe, welcome to NPN and the Weekly Challenge. This is a lovely scene with excellent lighting. The zig-zag of the hills leads my eyes through the scene very well. The cabins scattered throughout the scene add human interest. I’m enjoying that they all look weathered, so the fit quietly rather that standing out.
Welcome Wiebe, It’s a strong image with areas of high contrast caused by the deep shadows. I really like the almost exclusive use of the colour green and all of the tones and hues that you have here.
Luscious is just the right word to describe the scene.
Hi Wiebe,
First off welcome to NPN. This is a wonderful first post with some strong diagonals created by the morning sunlight and the two buildings work well within the scene. Thanks for the backstory on this beautiful area. My only suggestion would be to clone out the bit of evergreen intuding into the frame toward the LRC. I hope to see more of your images as well as your thoughts on other photogapher’s posts. Thanks for sharing.
