The Waiting Game

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

The vulture’s patience is its greatest strength. Here, it rests on a high perch, observing the Serengeti plains below, always alert but never hurried. As a vital scavenger, it plays a key role in the delicate balance of life, its stillness reflecting the quiet power of the ecosystem it helps sustain.

The black and white treatment works really well here. A kind of ominous, eerie scene-all you need is the haunted mansion nearby-appropriate for Halloween.

I like the B & W decision here. I occasionally opt for it with some of my photos. I think it works real well.

Excellent, Saundie. Good composition and that nice bright catchlight makes all the difference in large birds since their eyes are so inconspicuous.

The B&W treatment here is perfect for this stark image, imparting a slightly- ominous feel to this big scavenger.
Excellent image!

Great shot Saundie. I like the BW treatment. I really like the stark perch. I think this has an ominous/stark look to it.

I think that is the perfect perch to capture a vulture photo! B & W works good.
Well done.

Hi Saundie, I like the stark perch and the B&W works well for this image. Nice pose from the bird.

I love the B&W. The catchlight gives a nice little ‘I’m watching you’ gleam of the eye. Very beautiful treatment.

nice shot like the Black and white high key lighting. my only suggestion might be to change the crop. make it a more vertical crop and cut some off the left and right. but nice shot

I agree with the others on the B&W treatment, Don. Nicely done. The comp and crop are terrific too.
