I spent some time drifting in the Zodiac trying to a clean shot of this Osprey through the tall grass. This is not the cleanest one I came up with, but I like the eye contact. This photograph was taken in Old Lyme on Sept.20, at 9:48 AM.

Technical Details

Is this a composite: No
Canon R5, Canon 100-500mm & 1.4ext. , F10, 700mm, 1/1000, ISO 320. The shot is cropped by 60% and I adjusted the exposure, highlights, midtones, Microcontrast and saturation in DXO Photo Lab 5.

Nice one, Peter. I have only once photographed an Osprey. This is a great shot on a perch. Nice background too.

Good pose with that stare and the background works well with the Osprey. Overall, nicely composed in the frame.

Quite a stare! I like the pose and BG but it looks a bit soft. Heat shimmer?
