What artistic feedback would you like if any?

Pertinent technical details or techniques: No post production this is a jpeg image, I use a 1 to 1.5 f stop under exposure in an effort to saturate colors a little.

(If the background has been replaced, etc. please be honest with your techniques to help others learn)

If you would like your image to be eligible for a feature on the NPN Instagram (@NaturePhotoNet), add the tag ‘ig’ and leave your Instagram username below.
You may only download this image to demonstrate post-processing techniques.

Timothy: Certainly an under shot subject that you’ve carried off very well. I like your DOF/POF choice and how the BG is rendered. Nicely done. >=))>

Thank you Mr. Fach, a little more information, I used ISO 100, and “cloudy” WB setting.

I like the green on brown palette, Timothy. I also like the composition. I do wish you’d had just a bit more depth of field to bring the upper bud into really sharp focus.

Thank you Mr Plank: I tried using a smaller aperture on other photos of this subject, however it caused distracting elements in the back ground to come into focus. I appreciate your comments as well as those of others.

I will agree with Dennis. While I understand the wish to avoid processing and letting the jpeg algorithm do your work for you, there is a lot to be said for shooting RAW and doing the post processing yourself.

Hello Phil: I met you one day at the botanical garden in Savannah Ga. I have seen your focus stacking work and it is very impressive, right now I don’t own an image management program, the focus stacking software may even be free, I need to investigate that further. Thanks for the comment, good to hear from you.
