Update

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I have a nice bush and window of time to spend some time outside with these bees. This time I wanted to get as close as possible, which I did with other images. I waited for the bee to pick this flower because the dark background and on top of the flower.

Specific Feedback

DOF Feedback welcome. The focus was the bees head and flower, but should I have more DOF

Very cool close-up, Dean. I love the way this shows the relationship between the bee and the plant with that liberal dusting of pollen on the bee.

Nice close-up of this bee, Dean. It looks like from all the dusting of pollen on him that he has been busy on the flowers. Well done.

Dean: This DOF works well for me. I do like the pollen dusting which is very nicely rendered. The only thing that does not work for me is the dark LLC and the amount of real estate it takes up in the frame. I love the bokeh in the URC. I cropped this just a touch tighter and cloned in some of that good bokeh. Back to you.>=))>

Thank you for the feedback @Bill_Fach , @Dennis_Plank , and @Shirley_Freeman . I took Bill’s suggestion with the new version. Thanks Bill

Nice job on the update, Dean.

Dean, you are getting in close. This bee seems to be diving into its “dinner”, with the petal curled over its head. The subtle dodging along the bottom does even out the viewing.
