The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
Southern AZ has been unusually warm this winter. I saw a number of bees around our bush in the front yard. It was also a chance to try out my new lens to see how it would work out with my bee photography.
Specific Feedback
How is the lighting. This was the late afternoon timeline.
Technical Details
R7 RF 200-800mm at 500mm 1/1000 f/14 ISO 1250 HH. Cropped about 60 percent 1:1.

Dean: Great detail on the bee and I think your long lens did well. I’m impressed that you were able to get such fine focus HH even though you did have plenty of SS. My only suggestion would be to consider a vignette to tame down the upper corners a bit. Hope this is a hint of good things to come. >=))>
Dean, this is a great test of your lens! The bee is very sharp in a normal view (a little soft in the large view from here) and the blues of the flower are very appealing. I could also see a fair crop off the top, rather than a vignette.
The bee is fairly sharp with a little drop off in detail from the crop. You may want to try this lens with an extension tube of TC for some additional magnification for tiny subjects. I might try to slightly soften the outline of the Rosemary leaves behind the bee and agree with a vignette for darkening the upper edges of the frame. Well done…Jim
Dean, I’m so happy for you that the bees are out and giving you a chance to try out your new lens. It is always fun to go out with new equipment and have a nice subject like this to pose for you. I’m so looking forward to spring. Looks like you have already been given some good tips to improve an already fine image.
Nice to know someone has warm weather, Dean. The bee and flowers are very good. I do like the vignette suggestion. It looks like that lens will be very good for this kind of work. I don’t know how ell it works with a TC but that’s an interesting suggestion from @Jim_Zablotny. At 800mm, extension tubes probably aren’t practical in terms of gaining image size.
