Hello, Thomas ![]()
Welcome to NPN!
This is a great first image, and in my view, it’s a fine entry for the weekly challenge.
The rain drops are very clear and well defined while the background has a nice dark area that really helps with overall depth to the image.
Again, welcome to NPN!
Welcome, Thomas! This is a beautiful capture with the shallow DOF bringing out just the right area, and a lovely background. The muted greens are very well controlled. I think a closer to square format could work well here, taking some off the top and possibly a small slice off the bottom. I wondered if that would crowd the subject so tried it for comparison, an 8x10 and a 1:1. A very nice image in any case!
Thanks Diane! I like your crop suggestions.
Tom
Tom, welcome to NPN and the Weekly Challenge. You’ve got a great array of drops on the leaf arching across the frame here. Having the sharp ones show the green and dark tones behind add well to the view. In the large view, the details and how they change across the frame add so extra interest. Yes, the “extra” background at the top is not adding anything, so cropping to 4x5. You don’t say what your aperature was so I wonder if the front drops could be a bit less diffuse, but that’s me and I have a penchant for depth throughout… The other thing you could do to lessen the interest in the foreground drops would be some burning-in of the brightest tones along the front.
Tom: Let me add my welcome to NPN and thanks for a fine first post overall and in the Weekly Challenge in particular. I like your capture and I also like @Diane_Miller’s 4x5. Great to have you aboard and looking forward to more of your work. >=))>
