Too much!

Covid certainly has me reminiscing about trips from way back when. This image was taken as I was hoping for an osprey shot when a cormorant came to the surface with a huge trout. He battled this fish for a good minute or two before the fish got away. You can actually see where the cormorant’s beak was on the side of the trout in an earlier tussle just a moment before this shot was captured. I was also able to get the shot where the fish got away. I really like the light that was hitting the bird and the fish on this shot as it was early morning and there was not a lot of action on the lake that day. I certainly appreciate any and all comments and suggestions. I have never posted an image that didn’t get better because of your recommendations. I greatly appreciate it.

Really nice action captured David. Great to be able to see the eye of both bird and fish. Including the reflection is a nice touch too. No nits from me. Well done.

Wowser! That is a very cool image. The “pose” is great. The fact that you can see both the birds’ eye and the fish eye is amazing. Then just to add, the light is great. I don’t have a thing to add to make it better. Very nice image.

Wow, David, this is a really great action shot. I can only think of one thing, I wish it was my image! Like others have commented already, seeing the eye of both is a real nice bonus. The lighting and reflections are wonderful. I love the bowed shape the fish is in, and the leaning of the head of the Comorant as he is fighting for his breakfast. Not sure how he thought he was going to manage getting that size fish down, but you can see that he really wanted to. Great timing in this wonderful image. :+1: :+1:

Great action, David and I love the light and water. Since you specifically asked for improvement possibilities, I really looked hard. The only two things that look like they might be changed to me are to bring down the brightness of the near side of the trout along with the corresponding reflection and just possibly to dodge the trout’s eye a trifle to make it pop a bit more as it’s such a cool part of the image.

However, it’s a great image without my meddling.

Wonderful action shot with all elements coming together well. The pleasing light on the cormorant and fish contrasting with the fine texture of the darker water make this work well for me.

Tha you @Dennis_Plank, @David_Schoen, @Shirley_Freeman, @Keith_Bauer, @Allen_Sparks for your thoughtful comments. I really appreciate it. Dennis, good catch. I like both suggestions particularly the trouts eye. I’ll take care of that. Thanks again!

Killer action capture, David! The reflection is a nice bonus. The light in the scene is very nice also. As for possible improvements I would concur with Dennis Plank’s suggestions.

David: I don’t think that you could have ordered up any better light and action. It’s great as is and it’s a wall hanger. Richard
