Bald Eagle - Grand Tetons

Bald Eagle - Grand Tetons. While spending an incredible two weeks photographing in the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone I had a great encounter with a group of bald eagles feeding on an elk carcass. They would fly in and out and give me plenty of chances to come up with a nice flight shot. I particularly liked this one with the position of the bird showing off the full wing plumage.

Love the flying pose and the detail is great. I also like that the background is something other than the sky.

Great pose with wonderful detail and a very nice BG. I wonder about a slight softening of the top of the rock on the left edge.

LARGE VERSION…stunning image here, Keith… :+1: :+1:

This has to be seen large to really grasp how great this is. Terrific underwing detail and wing position. I love the background environment you captured as well. The head and eye position are really nice . I’ll bet with a carcass you had lots of great opportunities. Terrific image Keith. First rate in all regards.

Thank you @Allen_Brooks @Diane_Miller @Paul_Breitkreuz @David_Haynes . This was one of those experiences in nature that will stay with me for a very long time!

Excellent flight pose and I love the snowy background, Keith.

What an outstanding opportunity you had here. The focus and detail on the Eagle is really impressive. This image works really well against white snowy background.

Hi Keith,

Flying raptors pose a challenge for proper placement in the frame for the best composition. This one fits perfectly with just enough space at the top and bottom of the frame, The BG with snow covered shortgrass prairie and rabbitbrush adds a lot to the comp as well. Wing spread details are nice and the light feathers in the wings suggests that this bird is a young adult. As others have stated, the large version is a must see. Awesome…Jim

Hi Keith
This is a great photograph of a Bald Eagle coming in for dinner. The wind span and eye contact are great. Nice work.
